New “Elevator” Green Wall at Untappd Headquarters
Untappd Inc. is a social networking service and the creator of the popular and innovative beer app that allows beer enthusiasts to rate beers, check-in at local breweries, and “drink socially.” Untappd’s headquarters in Wilmington, NC has recently received a complete interior renovation! Done in conjunction with the North Carolina Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the building renovation incorporates sustainable elements and is meant to improve indoor air quality and bring energy to its occupants. Green building features include 100% LED lighting, building automation, the preservation of original elements of the historic building, and the use of reclaimed building materials.
Part of the new building renovation included installation of the largest green wall on the South East coast. As shown in the picture, the green wall measures over 35 feet high and spans three floors in what used to be an elevator shaft. Lighting for the green wall plants is provided by fourteen of Sunlite’s 4-foot ST40 Green Wall fixtures.
Special thanks to Steve Mott of Mott’s Green Roofscaping for designing and installing Untappd’s fabulous new green wall. Additional thanks to Jessica Wilson, LEED Green Associate and Community Associate at USGBC North Carolina Chapter, for providing the photos. Very nicely done!
