New Office Green Wall Installation by ArchNexus
Architecture firm ArchNexus (Architectural Nexus Inc.) has completed a new green wall installation at their brand new office in downtown Sacramento, CA. The new office emphasizes sustainability and is intended to be a “working showroom” for various products relating to emerging technologies and sustainability.
The new ArchNexus green wall is amazing! As shown in the photo, Sunlite’s ST30 fixtures were suspended from the ceiling to provide the lighting for the wall. To emphasize sustainability, this green wall is extra “green,” as the plants are fed by grey water produced inside the building. Many thanks to Felicia Reyes, Patty Karapinar, and Stephanie Warren at ArchNexus for their work on the new green wall. We would also like to thank San Francisco-based Habitat Horticulture for designing this incredible wall.
ArchNexus’ new office was constructed to become certified as a “Living Building” under the Living Building Challenge (LBC): http://living-future.org/lbc/about. To achieve LBC certification, one must install only products that have no chemicals on the “Red List” of chemicals of concern, with few exceptions. Another LBC requirement is to list all products used on the LBC website for the use of future teams pursuing LBC Certification. Sunlite was happy to verify that our products meet the LBC standards.
As shown in the photos, the new office building also features solar panels (that produce 105% of the energy the office needs!), cisterns outside that are used to capture rainwater, beautiful architectural designs, and a compostable toilet system that produces inert material to be used for agricultural production. Great work ArchNexus, way to go green!
